XSPC – PETG Easy Cut / Easy Bend Toolkit

Summary

We weren’t sure what to expect with the XSPC PETG Toolkit. Our hopes were high as it is very reasonable priced and seemed to offer a lot of value. Our concern was whether it was going to be cheap and nasty with parts that we didn’t want or never need to use again. Additionally we were concerned that the kit might be aimed specifically at XSPC PETG users. We need not have worried.

While the kit was probably put together to make life easier for purchasers of the XSPC PETG 14mm OD hard-line tubing, we believe it contains items which most users will find handy to have among their water cooling tools.

The 14mm size of the bender is very specific, but 14mm OD is a becoming more of a popular size with hard-liners with Bitspower, Barrow and of course XSPC selling 14mm fittings and tube. The bending tool itself is not without flaws, but it is simple and easy to use, perfect for beginners and hard-line veterans alike. We could not get absolutely perfect bends with the tool, but certainly very acceptable and for the most part the flaws were unnoticeable.

For users of this size tube the bending cord (rubber insert) will prove invaluable and we suggest purchasing and extra length so you can cut it into a few shorter lengths while keeping one long section in tact.

The Chamfer tool, while seemingly super-sized is perfectly function-able and we had great success chamfering the edges on both PETG and acrylic tubes. We also tried it on 12mm and 16mm tubing and had no issues, so this is a tool for all hard-liners.

The finishing sandpaper is an essential inclusion, but we feel the one small piece supplied won’t be enough for a complete build. While easily available at any hardware store, it would have been nice to have an extra sheet or two included with the kit.

The cutting tool surprised us with it’s quality. While the other tools in the kit are plastic, the cutters have alumunium handles with a great hammer-tone finish. The chrome-manganese steel blade is removable for re-sharpening and the opening/closing action is very smooth. Obviously acrylic tube can not be cut using them, but for any PETG or soft tube user, this should be the go to set of cutters. Like all the items in the kit the cutters are available to purchase individually if you have no intention of ever using hard-line tube.

If you’re a hard-line water cooler using 14mm fittings and tube we have no doubt you’ll find this kit useful, if you’re using XSPC fittings and PETG tubing you’ll find it incredibly useful, almost essential.
