Push Performance – 4/5
Push/Pull Performance – 4/5
Overall Performance – 4/5
The performance rating of 4.0 is arrived at from the Average Performance Factor results for all the radiators in the test group. As a thick radiator with a medium dense fin structure the XTX had potential to do well, but the XTX well and truly exceeded my expectations.
It performed exceptionally well in every test category, and while not taking a win in any of the test combinations it placed closely to the winner in each of them, making the XTX an excellent all-rounder and the overall winner. The XTX’s thermal performance was so unexpectedly good that it caused us to be suspicious of the result. An immediate retest of a radiator that had been completed earlier in Group A was done to ensure that this data could in fact be trusted.
The comparison data would indicate that it performs better (relative to the completion) with low speed fans, so it might be fair to say it performs best with low rpm fans, but saying that would take away from it’s excellent results with medium and high speed fans.
Features & Quality – 4/5
The XTX reviewed has a top quality satin black finish with just a couple of gritty spots under the paint.
It is equipped with alternate inlet/outlet ports as well as a bleeder/fill/drain port which is always a nice inclusion.
The deep internal shrouds appeared to do the job at maximizing fan efficiency, one side is 10mm deep while the other is 5mm. I used the 10mm side for the fresh air intake.
It is not fitted with screw protector plates, but the fan attachment holes are not in line with any tubes.
Summary – Gold Award
The XTX is a top performing radiator, luckily for EK it’s replacement performs even better . It returned excellent results in all the tested flow rates and fan speed combos making it an excellent all-rounder. At 64mm thick it won’t be suitable for all installations. But if you can fit it in your case the XTX360 certainly should be among your options to choose from.
