Yes, that’s right. The Philips BDM4065UC is not a TV, but a monitor. What’s the difference you ask? For one, this is not a TN panel (and likely not IPS either). The contrast ratio on this panel is 5000:1 at an average brightness of 300 cd/m^2 [1]. While we are at it, the monitor also has ~98% sRGB coverage for people where color accuracy is important with a 176º viewing angle based off an 8 bit panel. Everything screams out VA panel to us which is definitely getting the author excited to check this out in person. The kicker? Retail availability in mid-December of 2014 at an MSRP of $870. The larger size is not for everyone but will help out with scaling issues that applications and even Windows OS struggles to cope with at 4k (3840 x 2160 here).

In terms of connectivity, the 4065UC is well equipped, with VGA, RS232, Display Port 1.2 and Mini DisplayPort ports on its backside. It also offers 2 HDMI 1.4 ports (30 Hz at 4k) and a single MHL port for mobile high definition connections. Refresh rate (given as grey to grey and not in terms of the usual white to black) is 3 ms.
