Safety
I often get asked to diagnose why a forum user has poor temperatures. I always ask the following questions – what is your flow rate and what is your coolant temperature. If you don’t know those two it’s often hard to figure out what’s wrong. Knowing that your flow rate is good means that your pump is working well and that you have no blockages in your coolant flow. Knowing your coolant temperature means that you also know your air flow is sufficient and that your radiators are working well.
The Aquacomputer MPS400 is small, expensive and poorly calibrated but it’s got no moving parts to break or make noise and is good for measuring approximate flows and whether your flow has changed. It also has an input for a single in-line temperature probe to measure your coolant temperature. It is however useful sometimes to measure more than one probe though which is where the (again) expensive Aquaero 6 would come in. It also let’s you automatically control pump and fan speeds based on all sorts of variables. If you can afford it you’ll probably fall in love.
