MSI is preparing to release a second 780 Lightning, dubbed the Lite Edition. The LE will have all of the same features as the current 780 Lightning but slightly lower clocks with 889Mhz base and 941Mhz Boost compared to the current 980Mhz base and 1033Mhz boost. We’re not entirely sure why MSI is releasing a Light Edition of their monster 780 as the Lightning series is generally associated with “top end”. They did do something similar with the R7970 Lightning when they released the Power Edition (PE). Maybe they should focus more on bringing a 780 ti Lightning though…
Regardless the GTX 780 Lightning LE also has Military Class components, a 10-layer PCB, a GPU Reactor for improved overclocking stability, a TriFrozr cooler, Pure Digital PWM Control, Twin BIOS, a 16+3 phase power design, and the ‘usual’ – 2304 CUDA Cores, 3 GB of GDDR5 memory set to 6008 MHz, and dual-DVI, HDMI and DisplayPort output. The card’s price tag has not been revealed but I’m sure you can expect somewhere between $25-50 cheaper than the current 780 Lightning.
