MSI is starting to prepare their long awaited R9 290X Lightning card. Here are some of the first pictures of it!
Going on the assumption that this is the last revision of the R9-290X PCB, we can see that it features two 8 pins as well as a 6 pin! Three power connectors isn’t something we haven’t seen before but it certainly isn’t common. The latest card to feature three power connectors was the Asus Ares II, a dual GPU card. Hopefully we can expect great things to come from this!
As with most lightnings MSI will provide V-Check points to allow direct measurement of GPU, memory and auxiliary lines voltages.
Unlike the R7970 Lightning the R9-290X Lightning will feature the same display outputs as the reference R9-290X, which is very unfortunate for those that like to go 5 way eyefinity.
