Been hunting for that new desktop replacing laptop you need for work? Well look no further, the wait is over. Eurocom has brought the ultimate top of the line workstation featuring two of Intel’s latest Xeons.
Eurocom says the Panther 5SE is the world’s first laptop to tote a 12-core processor with 24 threads. That is, if you opt to configure it with an Intel Xeon E5-2695 v2 or E5-2697 v2 processor. If that’s too rich for your blood, you can go without something a bit more tame — the system supports Intel’s entire line of Xeon E5-2600 v2 CPUs.
The configuration starts at around $3,000 USD but can escalate quite quickly once you start adding SSDs, GPUs, CPUs, and RAM. You can get up to 4TB of SSD space, a pair of 4GB 780s, a pair of E5-2697 V2 processors, and 32GB of RAM, with extra it comes to around $10,000 USD. Not too bad really considering a similar priced desktop system will set you back several thousand.
This system isn’t for us as we’re partial to desktops but as somebody who travels a lot I can appreciate a solid workstation laptop – not that I’d want to lug around a 12lb computer!
